Lately, a number of extremely intelligent and perceptive writers have decided that we humans are doomed. They say it is because we are unable to agree on a fix or even, as in the case of the leaders of the United States, to think a fix is needed. Their doomsday scenario revolves around two main issues:  Economic inequality and climate change.

I read about the book Carbon Ideologies by William Vollmann in the Atlantic this month. His two books explain the hopelessness of expecting a sane movement to fix the environment. He stated humanity as the problem:  The problems of our growth, complexity, cost-benefit, industry, generation delay, and political ennui. Is he right? Are we all Nero's fiddling while Rome burns? Maybe.

With the right leader we could treat climate change as a war to be fought and won. We could ration energy and carbon emissions like we rationed food and gas during WWII. And that leader would insure that everyone rations, most especially those higher up on the wealth ladder. I actually believe that people would embrace the idea of sacrifice if they knew they were contributing to a real solution. If the cause is right, most people will line up and do right. Most of us would love to have solar panels and use other types of non-polluting power if we could afford it. We can’t now, but a real leader could make it possible by spreading the economy out more evenly.

As to economic inequality, I am ignorant of the ways and means of the financial world. I have watched Chris Hedges, Richard Wolff, and Robert Reich on YouTube and I shudder at the seemingly hopeless plight of the ordinary person. But all of us can see the results of the vast divide between the great wealth at the top and the ordinary worker at the bottom. Paul Krugman of the NYT said that the richest at the top steal about 25% of taxes from the government each year and this doesn’t include the loopholes they are allowed to jump through. He also states that this amount is enough to pay for all of the food stamps given out to people in the United States.

The only real solution to this economic disaster that controls us is to over-tax those who can afford to pay. Somehow we need to limit the high percentage gained by big corporations with regulations. So far, everything run amok can be attributed to the imbalance created by the deregulation of corporate capitalism. But not far off is the idea put in many minds that the only thing worth striving for is to get rich and then richer. When is enough enough?

If someone or something, say the enemy of mankind, wanted to take over a nation or world, the best way to do so would be to push us into self-destruction through division and war.  So far, it seems to be working. I keep asking why? Why would this enemy want us to be destroyed? The only clear answer I can come up with is human destruction goes against God. God equals life, to destroy humanity is to destroy God’s creation.

Jesus has taken me to numerous worlds. So far, I have not encountered any group at war. I have encountered some people whose need for prayer seemed intense, which hints that they have an underlying enemy such as our own. One civilization was so like us they destroyed one of their own continents with radiation. I wrote about this in my book, Traveling in Time and Space. But most places Jesus takes me to are tame compared to earth.

Likely, life itself and the struggle towards growth and change would always create natural barriers to overcome. Maybe the earth and a few other places are extreme examples where an enemy is trying to take over. I once wondered if the dark clouds between stars, (I think earth is surrounded by this darkness) was a possible cause. Now I don’t think this is true. What is true is that all the conspiracy theories floating around today derive from this same, hidden, shadowy enemy. If we knew this enemy maybe we could help defeat it, but no one will speak of it because then they would be labeled as crazy.

I am glad that Pope Francis mentioned Satan in a speech. Yes, Satan has been trying to destroy the Catholic Church for many years, and doing a good job of it. Now this enemy has its sights on the United States of America. What to do about it? I don’t know. Jesus tells me to keep doing what I am doing. Jesus also says that there are still a lot of good people in the world. So I must learn to leave it at that and keep praying we make it through this miasma of irrationality. In fact, this may be the reason Jesus is guiding us to other planets, to show us that we will make it through this bad spot and even one day excel.

Meditation this morning was beautiful upon the mountain with all of us gathered together. God’s light came in energy waves that surrounded all of us. Our spiritual bodies filled up with enough love energy to spread around the world. This is what each of us did when we left the mountaintop and went in different directions. A large group of us centered our energy on the United States because love is sorely needed here at this time.

As I walked across the land breathing out during ohm, I could see my breath like glittering dust spread like a cloud to cover cities and towns as I walked through. Still, I had time to stop to hug and surround a person with my breath of love from God. Sometimes we need a small boost and I think Jesus or the angels direct me to people in need at the moment.

One man with white hair and a white mustache seemed to listen when I told him to love all people no matter their skin color or belief and don’t forget immigrants, they are people in need too.  I think he listened. I said the same to a very large lady with black hair who seemed young, but uncertain. I assured her that all people are worthy of love. I stopped during my march across the land to speak to numerous people. Out west, I found a group of American Indians who I hugged and shared love with. Usually, one or two Indian men join us upon the mountain and then walk with us across America.

Strangely, during some of my walk, I seemed to go to another place, hilly, barren, gray, silent, and empty, as if even the sun were afraid to shine. Had I stepped below the matrix of the illusion we live inside? Don’t know. Sometimes my imagination runs wild, but this is where I found many people, lined up in a row, sleeping. I breathed God’s light over them. God’s light brightened up the dull sky and woke the sleepers. I like to think they woke to share love. Jesus was with me this whole time so I really don’t know if the place was real or a symbol. Are we all asleep and dream the illusion of a busy world?

Well, regardless, my imagination seemed to be in full swing this morning and I deeply hope that I was able to spread the idea of love to people. Trying is better than doing nothing at all, so I continue my march to feeding souls from the bright light and energy of God.

Jesus told me again the other evening, “We are going to lift you up.”

He didn’t say when and I get the impression that it won’t be soon, which is good, because like I told Jesus, “I only want to be lifted up when the world is good shape. I want it to be a beautiful celebration, not a disastrous one.

Jesus replied, “I know. We are trying.”

I am reporting this for a reason. I want it to serve as a warning about the need to love and think well of all people. Dictatorships are trying to take over the nations in the world and political divisions are growing stronger. Such politics almost guarantees a serious disregard for ordinary people. Today in our own country we have a leader who encourages disunity and dysfunction. If it continues, things will go seriously wrong, perhaps so desperately wrong that there will be no turning back from it. So we need to help Jesus and his angels turn things around.

Love is the only answer.

Jesus is certainly right that there are a lot of good people in the world, and likely many more than not. Everyone knows one bad apple can spoil the barrel. But are there enough good people who agree to fight for better conditions for everyone. Our love for others should reach beyond family and friends to include immigrants, refugees, homeless, people of other religions and sexual orientations. We all know this in our hearts. The hard part is the practice of it. Most of us donate to various charity organizations because we do care. We really do try, but we get overtaken by leaders who don’t. We need to push this type of bad leadership aside and bring in people who will work for the betterment of everyone, not just special interests. Please keep this in mind when you vote in a few weeks.

This coming vote may actually portend life or death for humans. Not many people know this but the flying biomass of the earth is slowly disappearing. Where flying insects could be counted, entomologists found they are growing less numerous by 6% a year. No one knows what the exact cause of this disappearance is but suspect global warming has a hand in it.

I have noticed smaller and smaller numbers of insects myself in my summer pool and fewer flies in late summer. Many people have noticed there is less bug splatter on their car windshields. In some areas where there used to be thousands in a short stretch of road there are none.

At first, this sounds like a blessing until you think of what it means. Birds and frogs and many other small animals eat insects for nourishment. We are all aware that insects pollinate the fruits and vegetables and other fauna which is vital for life. And don’t forget how flying insects delight us with their strangeness and beauty.

To save this vast resource we need to vote for democrats and hope and pray they can take over the house and senate. Because even with their many faults, at least democrats believe in science and global warming. They are the most likely to take the bull by the horns and attempt to fix what is plaguing our nation and the earth. The US is big and used to be a leading example for the world. We need to get back our influence.

I think most of us have all learned a good lesson in how important it is to choose a good leader who will work for the betterment of all the people and the life around us.  We actually need much better leaders than in the past because we need someone strong enough to push against the corporate structure and special interests that have overtaken the government. Is anyone able to do this? Only those people labeled as progressive have the will to turn this system around and make it work better for all.

Jesus instructed us many times to care about other people. He was giving us a warning but also a template for life. If we accept this ideal of prosperity for all and kindness towards all life then we won’t go far wrong. If not…
